#EachforEqual: Blackbaud Employees Pledge Commitment to Equality on International Women’s Day

Every year on March 8, International Women’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. The day signifies centuries of women’s achievements and the journey to gender equality without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.

The 2020 global theme, #EachforEqual, acknowledges that building a gender-balanced world means stronger economies and thriving communities, which echoes Blackbaud’s own commitment to equality and inclusion. The theme for International Women’s Day is a global theme chosen annually by the International Women’s Day organization and is recognized in a collective manner, around the world.

We believe the world will be a better place when good takes over. Every day, we see that great things happen when diverse people with different experiences, perspectives and backgrounds come together. Blackbaud continues to demonstrate this by encouraging and implementing more gender equality and female leadership in the workplace. Blackbaud supports the robust efforts of our internal, employee-led business networking groups. These Business Affinity Groups provide an enriching professional network for Blackbaud employees with common affinities, characteristics or backgrounds. Our affinity groups like Women in Sales, Women in Tech and Women in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), serve to empower and develop personal and professional growth in female leadership across our company. In addition, Blackbaud’s Camp Blackbaud is designed to bridge the opportunity gap for students, including girls, from under-resourced neighborhoods and schools, highlight the importance of STEM education, and encourage students to pursue careers in technology.

We are proud to have been named by Forbes as one of America’s Best Employers for Women and recently named as a leader on the AnitaB.org 2019 Top Companies for Women Technologists List. In addition, Blackbaud will be recognized in April at the National Diversity and Leadership Conference with multiple awards.

In recognition of International Women’s Day 2020, our employees around the world joined in a global effort to outwardly pledge their commitment to continue driving gender parity across the company, whether it be implementing a new action or belief. We captured several of these moments today in the form of employee written pledges and photos below.

Blackbaud is proud to remember the courageous acts of ordinary women everywhere who pushed the boundaries to achieve women’s equality. Share your own pledge! You can pledge an action or a belief that will help you forge a more gender equal world. Write it down, take a picture of you holding your pledge and post it on social media using the hashtags #EachforEqual and #IWD2020. An example action pledge would be, I’ll buy from women-owned businesses more often or a belief would be, I’ll take more time to reflect on how fair and equal my actions and comments are.

Let your voice be heard this International Women’s Day!
